You Don't Have to Dread This

If you're reading this, you're probably somewhere between anxious and resigned. Maybe another dentist told you a tooth needs to come out and you've been sitting with that news for a few days. Maybe you've been dealing with pain long enough that you already know something has to change. Either way — you're in the right place, and we want to start by saying something that doesn't get said often enough: an extraction isn't a failure. Sometimes it's the clearest path to feeling better and protecting the rest of your mouth.

At Cornerstone, we don't recommend pulling a tooth unless we genuinely believe it's the right call. If there's a case for saving it, we'll make that case — clearly, in plain language, with your options laid out in front of you. You decide. But when an extraction is the right answer, we want you to know exactly what that looks like before you ever sit in the chair.

The procedure itself is more straightforward than most people expect. We use local anesthesia to fully numb the area — you may feel pressure, but you shouldn't feel pain. If the idea of being aware during the procedure makes your stomach drop, conscious sedation is available, and we're glad to talk through what that involves before you commit to anything. Our show-tell-do approach means nothing happens without your awareness and agreement first. If you need a moment, you take a moment.

After the tooth is out, we'll walk you through what healing looks like — what's normal, what to watch for, and who to call if something doesn't feel right. You won't leave with a pamphlet and a wave. You'll leave with a clear picture of the next few days and a team you can actually reach.

We'll also give you a plain-language cost estimate before anything is scheduled, and we file insurance on your behalf. No surprise bills. If your situation calls for a specialist — an oral surgeon, for instance — we'll tell you honestly and help you get there. We don't keep work in-house when somewhere else would serve you better.
